They manufactured these carpets, initially known as ”Astroturf”; it has been used in making fields for sports since then.

Artificial grass was first manufactured in 1964 and it was known as “Chemgrass” back then. The Research wing of Chemstrand did a lot of research on Astroturf in order to check its strength, wear & tear, flammability, drainage and so on. With the passage of time, many sports complexes had started to install artificial grass in their sports fields as it had become easier to maintain as compared to natural grass.
